The status of thread milling:

The advantages of thread milling methods:

1, Because the current thread milling cutter manufacturing materials for hard alloy, processing line speed up to 80 ~ 200m/min, and high-speed steel cone processing line speed is only 10 ~ 30m/min, so the thread milling cutter for high-speed cutting, The surface finish of the machined thread is also greatly increased. The processing of high-hardness materials and high-temperature alloy materials such as titanium alloys and nickel-based alloys has always been a difficult problem. The main reason is that when the high-speed steel taper is used to machine the above materials, the tool life is shorter, and the carbide thread milling is used. Knife for hard material thread processing is an ideal solution. Machinable hardness HRC58 ~ 62. For threading of high-temperature alloy materials, threaded inserts also show very good processability and unexpectedly long life. For tap holes with the same pitch and different diameters, using taps requires more tools to complete, but if using a thread insert, use a single tool. After the tap wear and machining thread size is smaller than the tolerance, it cannot be used anymore. It can only be scrapped. When the thread insert wears and the size of the machined thread hole is smaller than the tolerance, the necessary tool radius compensation can be adjusted by the CNC system, and the machining can be continued. Size qualified thread.

 

2, Similarly, in order to obtain high-precision thread holes, the method of adjusting the tool radius with a thread blade is much easier than producing high-precision taps. For small-diameter threading, especially in high-hardness materials and high-temperature materials, the tap sometimes breaks, blocks the threaded hole, and even scraps the part. With the thread insert, the diameter of the tool is smaller than the processed hole, even if it is broken. It will block the threaded hole, it is very easy to remove, will not lead to scrap parts.

 

3, The use of thread milling, and tap, compared to the cutting force significantly reduced, this point in the processing of large diameter thread is particularly important to solve the machine load is too large to drive the tap normal processing problems. Cutter blade thread inserts were introduced a decade ago, and it is also recognized that the machining of M20 or more threaded holes in machining centers can reduce processing costs significantly compared to the use of taps with thread milling cutters.
