(1) Castings

Castings are suitable for parts workblank with more complex shapes. The casting methods include sand casting, precision casting, metal casting, and pressure casting. Sand casting is more commonly used. When the precision of the blank is low and the production volume is small, the wood mold manual molding method is used. When the blank precision is high and the production batch is large, the metal type machine modeling method is used. Casting materials include cast iron, cast steel, and non-ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum.

(2) Forgings

Forgings are suitable for parts workblank with high strength requirements and relatively simple shapes. Forging methods are free forging and die forging. Free-forging workblank have low precision, large machining allowances, and low productivity, and are suitable for single-piece small batch production and large part workblank. Forging workblank with high precision, small machining allowances and high productivity, but with high costs, are suitable for mass production of small and medium-sized parts workblank.

(3) parts Profiles

Profiles are hot-rolled and cold-drawn. Hot rolling is applicable to workblank with larger dimensions and lower precision; cold drawing is applicable to workblank with smaller dimensions and higher precision.

(4) Weldments

Welded parts are workblank made by welding profiles or steel plates as required. It is simple and convenient, and has a short production cycle. However, it must undergo aging treatment before it can be machined.

(5) Cold Stampings

Cold stamping workblank can be very close to the finished product requirements, and are widely used in small machinery, meters, and light industrial electronic products. However, because the stamping die is expensive, it is only used for mass production.
